Marie Theresa Ayles, 90, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008 at Stamford Hospital. Born April 14, 1918 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Tito Potolicchio.
Marie was a retired employee of the City of Stamford having worked in the Tax department for twenty years. She was also a former member of the Red Men Womens Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Carroll and her husband Victor of Stamford; two sons, Robley D. Ayles of Fishkill, NY; and William J. Ayles of Stamford; a brother, Paul Potolicchio and his wife Diane of Stamford; and a sister-in-law, Marge Potolicchio. Seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robley D. Ayles; and three brothers, Alphonse, Samuel and Frank Potolicchio.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, July 30 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:20 AM on Thursday, August 1 and proceed to Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Stamford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made in Maries name to Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902.
