Marie Gunnip

Marie Gunnip, 85, died on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on September 3, 1924 in Stamford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late George and Julia Matutis DeMatteo.
She is survived by her two sons; David C. Gunnip and his wife Dianne of Stamford, and Daniel Gunnip of Goshen, CT, three sisters; Amelia Nafey of Stamford, Irene Ross of Greenwich, and Louise Pupelis of Norwalk, as well as four granddaughters; Jenna Rose, Kate, Shannon and Meagan Gunnip and several loving nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Charles “Charlie” Gunnip and brother George DeMatteo.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, January 10, 2010, from 2:00-5:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 11, and proceed to St. Benedicts Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
