Marie Petrizzi

Marie Francis Petrizzi, 78 of Stamford, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010 at home. Born on November 7, 1931 in Portchester, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith Gianfransico.
Marie loved gardening and was an avid Red Sox fan. She also greatly enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
Marie will be greatly missed by her husband of 54 years, Gerald J. Petrizzi, Sr. of Stamford; daughter Geraldine P. Dillon and her husband James of Fairfield; two sons, William L. Petrizzi of Trumbull and Gerald M. Petrizzi III and his wife, Oonagh of Stamford; her brother Michael Gianfransico of Port Chester, NY. Eight grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Gianfransico.
A Funeral Procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT at 9:15AM on Thursday, May 6, 2010 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Cecilia RC Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Marie’s name to the St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Building, Memphis, TN 38105.
