Marie Volpe Scime, 102, formerly of Stamford, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was born in Italy on October 18, 1923 to the late Vito and Catherine Sperduto Calabrese.

She was an incredible and loving woman whose heart was always open. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel loved. Guided by her faith, she lived with kindness, generosity, and a deep trust in God. She found great joy in dancing, spending time with people, and celebrating life’s simple pleasures. A true social butterfly, she loved meeting new people and was instantly adored for her warmth, charm, and genuine spirit. Her laughter, faith, and unwavering love for family and friends will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew her.
Marie is survived by her son, Leonard Volpe, Jr. (Linda), and her daughter, Virginia Robertson. She is survived by her seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Calabrese, and her sister Carmella DeCarlo.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 9:00 –10:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien.
