Marie Demott Zaccagnino
July 30, 1925 — September 16, 2006
Marie A. Zaccagnino, 81, died on Saturday September 16, 2006 at Stamford Hospital. Born on July 30, 1925 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine DeMott.
Marie and her late husband, Vinny, owned and operated the Springdale Laundry for many years, until 1980. Remembering Marie as a most courageous and distinguished woman through her years of illness, would be an honor to her today. She was a true believer of her faith and it shined though in her everyday life. Strength and hope sustained her as well as her love of family. Next to being a loving mom, she was Aunt Marie loved and cherished.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard and Vincent Zaccagnino both of Stamford; two daughters-in-law, Patricia Zaccagnino of Stamford and Elizabeth Zaccagnino Purchase, NY; two brothers, James DeMott of Wilton and Joseph of Darien; two grandchildren, Erin Zaccagnino of Stamford and Ashley Zaccagnino of Purchase, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, Vincent J. Zaccagnino, Jr.; two brothers, Thomas and John DeMott; and three sisters, Rose Denny, Tina DeMott and Molly DeMott Grisko.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 8:50 AM on Tuesday September 19, 2006 and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM. Interment will then follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Darien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday September 18 from 4:00 8:00 PM.
