Marilyn V. Trefry, 76, died peacefully on the morning of December 9th, within sight of the garden she had planted and the birds she avidly watched. A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Marilyn spent her life making the world a better and more beautiful place.
With her family and friends she was vivacious, loving and generous. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time talking, playing, or going places with her children or grandchildren. And for her community, she was driven and dedicated. Marilyn was as founding member of the Springdale Neighborhood Association, and its President for some two decades, she helped the community become the vibrant, pleasant place it is today.
Marilyn leaves her husband of 56 years, Robert Trefry, their children, Lynda Gutierrez and her husband Mario, of Southbury, Paul Trefry of Stamford, Jim Trefry and his wife Cynthia of Stamford, as well as seven grandchildren, Brian Beatty and his wife Yen Nee, Meghan Trefry, Matt Trefry, Jack Trefry, Brooke Trefry, Hannah Trefry, and Amalia Gutierrez. Marilyn also leaves a brother, Anthony Tomczyk. She will be dearly missed by each and every one of them. Marilyn was pre-deceased by her parents, Anthony and Stella Tomczyk and her brother, Edward.
Always concerned about others, and the good of her community, Marilyn asked that any flowers be bought from Springdale Florist, Darien or a donation in lieu of flowers in Marilyn’s memory to the MAC Angels Foundation (macangels.org) 2005 Palmer Avenue, Suite 291, Larchmont, NY 10538 were invaluable in helping our family get through the devastating diagnosis of ALS.
