Marion S. Jewell, 88, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at Stamford
Hospital on Friday, April 20, 2018. Born Jan. 4, 1930 to Mildred I. Smith and Samuel G. Smith.

Marion is survived by her brother Robert S. Smith and his wife Nanette, loving nieces, Debra
Clymer and her husband David; Peggy Muller Burbank and her husband John; Linda Muller
Christians; Martha Jewell Guski and her husband John; and Elizabeth Jewell. Loving Nephews,
David Jewell and Thomas Jewell and his wife Sharon.

Also surviving are loving grandnephews Alijah Clymer, Corey Christians and his wife Terri; Bill
Burbank and his wife, Susan; Daniel Burbank and partner Kristen Basone, and Stephen Jewell,
loving grandnieces Siena, Alysia, and Danielle Clymer as well as Loving Great Grandnieces,
Erin Burbank, Anna and Evelyn Christians and Great grandnephews, James and Aiden Burbank.
Besides her parents, Marion was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Jewell, to whom she
was married for 57 years.

Marion earned a B.S. degree from the Teachers College of Connecticut, now CCSU, in 1951, an
M.A. degree from NYU in 1958, and a 6th year professional Diploma from the University of
Bridgeport in 1967. She was a teacher in the Darien Public Schools from 1951 to 1981, followed
by years of substitute teaching and tutoring. She was a member of the Connecticut State
Teachers Retirement Board from 1987 to 1991.

Marion was honored in the Hall of the House of Representatives, Hartford, Connecticut as the
Retired Teacher Representative on the Connecticut State Teachers Retirement Board, on Retired
Teacher Recognition Day, February 20, 1991.
The North Stamford Congregational Church has been her church home for many years. She
served on the Board of Deacons and the Board of Trustees.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11 AM at the North Stamford
Congregational Church, 31 Cascade Road, Stamford, CT 06903. The Rev Jacqueline Gilchrist
will officiate. There will be no calling hours and internment will be private.
Donations in Marion’s name may be made to the music committee of the North Stamford
Congregational Church, Hospice Care or the charity of one’s choice.

The family extends particular thanks and appreciation to Rodeline Vilsaint Vincent and her
children Naika Lazarre and Dawens Vincent for their care, love and support for Marion as well
as Robert Jewell over many years.
