Marjorie L. O’Kane, 90 of Stamford, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Richard Rosenthal Hospice Residence. Born on October 8, 1919 in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Lila Johns Pleassas.
A beloved mother and grandmother, Marjorie was a homemaker for her husband and eight children. She was very dedicated to the church, a part of the Rosary Society and was the first woman lector of St. John the Evangelist RC Church in Stamford. Marjorie was a Volunteer of the Red Cross for 45 years and was named Red Cross Volunteer of the Year in 2008.
Marjorie is survived by her eight children, William Paul O’Kane, Jr. of New York, Kathleen Waters of Maryland, Dennis P. O’Kane of Florida, Sheila O’Kane of Florida, Kevin O’Kane and his wife Susan of Stamford, Christine Betts and her husband Richard of Stamford, Eileen Kornreich and her husband William of New York and John D. O’Kane of Stamford; her sister, Marylou Michales of New York; five grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Betts, Emily Fee, Maurice Clark Curran and Matthew O’Kane; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, William Paul O’Kane, Sr.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT. Private ennichement services will be held at St. John’s RC Cemetery Mausoleum, Darien, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Marjorie’s name to the Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence, 100 Shelburne Road, Stamford, CT.
