Mary Rose Cappiello, 94, died peacefully at her home on November 23, 2008. Born October 21, 1914 in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sileo Lanterna.

Mary was a seamstress at many clothiers for over 40 years before retiring from Lord & Taylor. Mary loved to play cards (for pennies) and listen to Dean Martin. She made wonderful homemade pasta, spaghetti and clams and the best tossed salad ever made.
Mary will always be remembered for her Christmas decorations and making her Magical Village under the Christmas Tree. Little Mary will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her three children, Robert Cappiello, Sr. of North Carolina; Nicholas (Skip) Cappiello, Jr. of Morris, CT; and Mary Ann Cappiello of Norwalk, CT.
She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Ann Marie Cappiello, Robert Cappiello Jr., Christopher Cappiello, Carol Lynn Cappiello, Nicholas Cappiello, II, Robert Cappiello, II, Michael Cappiello, Jonathan Cappiello; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mary is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Cappiello Sr.; sister, Sara Pariello; and brothers: Anthony, Frank and George Lanterna.

Over the years she was specially cared for by her caretakers, Leah, Ria, Maudlyn and Danna.

Mary was always so grateful to her family caretakers Mary Ann, Ann Marie, Regina, Fe and Amanda who always gave her the most special loving care that anyone could ever have and that she deserved.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Tuesday, November 25, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, November 26 and proceed to St. Matthews RC Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, CT where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery in Darien, CT.
