Mary Angela Ferrara, 95, a resident of Darien passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 20, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 17, 1917 in Stamford to the late Guerino and Angela Marconi Iacovacci.
Mary was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1935. She started her working career as a young woman at Phillip’s and Conde Nast. She met the love of her life, Dominic Ferrara, and waited for him to return from WW II to marry and then raised their family. Her second career began with Golf Digest and concluded with a position in her daughters’ business, PCI Creative Group until her retirement at age 90. Mary’s family was the most important thing in her life and she enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with them and her friends. Mary was an avid bowler and enjoyed many leisure sports in her early years. She enjoyed winter vacations in Florida, and summer beach vacations in Montauk, NY and Cape Cod, MA as well as spending time in Vermont.
She is survived by her two loving and dedicated daughters Mary Ferrara and her husband John Masanotti of Darien, and Anne Chiapetta and her husband Frank and their son Derek of Darien. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Dominic Ferrara and her three brothers Thomas and his wife Madeline, Joseph and his wife Toni and Anthony and his wife Ethel Iacovacci.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 9:20 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. John’s RC Church , 1986 Post Road, Darien. Internment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
