Mary Golino
June 10, 1920 — June 11, 2009
Mary Edith Golino, 89, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2009. Born on June 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Vincenza (Tangi) Portanova.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Tessitore of Milford and Grace Carpenter of Fairfield; a brother, Anthony Portanova of Stamford; three grandchildren, Karen Baker of Trumbull, Jennifer Carpenter of Fairfield and Jeffrey Tessitore of Milford; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Lindsey Baker.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Golino; a son-in-law, Peter Tessitore; three brothers, Joseph, Ralph and Victor Portanova; and four sisters, Carmella Cleri, Jane Bova, Palma Mammone, and Antoinette Sepe.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Tuesday, June 16 from 9:00 �" 10:00 AM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:00 AM following the wake and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien.
