Mary Inzitari Herman, 102, of Stamford passed away peacefully on October 11, 2015 at St. Camillus Health Care Center. She was born on December 8, 1912 to the late Pasquale and Felicia Ciombrone Inzitari.
Mary was blessed with a long and wonderful life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Outside of the home she wore many hats. She was a seamstress, worked at New Canaan Country Day, and worked as the Parts Manager alongside her son and grandson at Shippan Shore Marina and John W. Herman Marine Center. She greeted and served many customers in the store and on the gas dock. Mary was also one of the longest lifetime members of the Halloween Yacht Club. Many pleasurable years were spent on Long Island Sound with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Victoria Gostomski Herman; son-in law Thomas Schiller; grandchildren John Herman, Jr. and his wife Mary Katherine; Vicki Ann Druehl and her husband William III; John Parrish and his wife Maureen; Scott Schiller; Lynne Schiller Burnham and her husband Glen; Sandy Schiller Lentini and her husband Barth; and 17 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Walter W. Herman; son John W. Herman; daughter Rochelle Herman Schiller; granddaughter Tama Herman Parrish; longtime companion Matthew Reilly; a sister Stephanie and brothers Joseph, Dominick, and Frank.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, October 16, at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 9:00-10:30 AM prior to Mass.
