Mary Ekstowicz Krasniewicz Torok, 82, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Stamford Hospital. Born August 3, 1926 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Stella Siwiec Ekstowicz.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Stamford and Old Greenwich. She was a chef at her husbands restaurant, Mikes Restaurant and Bar of Stamford. She was also a nurses aide at St. Josephs Hospital and worked as a Medical Secretary for various doctors offices in Stamford.
Mary is survived by three sons, Michael Krasniewicz of MA; John Krasniewicz of Old Greenwich; and James Krasniewicz of Riverside; a daughter, Louise Krasniewicz of PA; a son, Paul Krasniewicz of Stamford; a daughter, Joanne Stetson of VT; and a sister, Helen Ekstowicz of Stamford. Nine grandchildren, Candace Offield, Vanessa Krasniewicz, Erin Krasniewicz, Mary Leigh Krasniewicz, Hope Krasniewicz, Kyle Stetson, Philip Stetson, Claire Stetson and Drew Leventhal also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Michael J. Krasniewicz; her second husband, Robert Torok, and three brothers.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Sunday, November 30, from 12:00 2:00 PM. Interment will be private.
