Mary Lambrinakos, a longtime resident of Stamford passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2021. Mary was born in the small village of Smyrna, Greece on February 4, 1927 to the late Demitri and Evangelia Raniou. She was 94 years old at the time of her passing.
Mary and her husband Elias emigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in 1956 and made their home in Stamford, CT for the next 65 years, raising their family and embracing their community. Mary was a long time member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She worked for Excelsior Hardware in the production department until her retirement in 1992. Mary was passionate about cooking & baking. She was well known for her endless supply of “Koulourakia” to all her family & friends and especially to many young children. Above all, her greatest pride and joy was being “YiaYia” to her five grandsons.
Mary is survived by her son Steve Lambrinakos and his wife Lori and her daughter Helen Nault and her husband John; her five grandsons, Derek Nault, Andrew Nault (Nicole), Christopher Lambrinakos(Chelsea), Matthew Nault (Tara) and Steven Lambrinakos (Mia) and her great grandchildren, Luca and Lila Lambrinakos.
Friends and family may offer their sympathy and condolences to Mary’s family from 10AM to 11AM on Thursday, June 24th at Archangels Greek Orthodox Church, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT 06905. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM, immediately following the visitation, with the interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, in Stamford.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations may be made in Mary’s memory to The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society or to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT 06905.
