Mary Podlaski of Stamford passed away peacefully on Friday Sept. 22, 2006, at the age of 89.
Born in Malta, March 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Carmela Chetcuti Vassallo.
Mrs. Podlaski emigrated to the United States in 1929 and proudly became a U.S. Citizen in 1943. She retired from Pitney Bowes in 1980 after many years of service, and spent the next 26 years devoted to her family. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Marys RC Church in Stamford.
Survivors include a daughter, Sophie D. Roedel of Smithtown, NY; a son, Casimir Podlaski of Bristol, CT; a daughter, Mary Morrison of Ridgefield, CT; a son, Rick Podlaski of Stamford, and a sister Pera Vassallo of Stamford. Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Podlaski was predeceased by her husband Kasimier �"Charlie Podlaski in June of this year. She was also predeceased by a brother Charles Vassallo, a sister Lena Micallef and a grandson Christopher.
A Funeral Procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford on Wed. Sept. 27, 2006 at 10:20 AM and proceed to St. Mary RC Church 566 Elm St. Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tues. Sept. 26, 2006 from 4-8 PM.
