Mary Rigney
November 22, 1921 — October 23, 2013
Mary D. Rigney, 91, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Stamford Hospital. She was born on November 22, 1921 in Sharon, CT to the late Edward J. and Katherine Flanagan Downey.
Mary was a Registered Nurse at Stamford Hospital as a nursing instructor, supervisor and recruiter. After her retirement she was a Hospice volunteer for over twenty years and also volunteered at the Church of the Holy Spirit where she was a member. She was also active in St. Leo’s Parish Seniors and the Stamford Women’s Club.
Mary is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Edward S. Rigney, as well as her sister Margaret D. Hahne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford. Interment will be held privately and there will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
