Mary J. Roda, 86, of Darien passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Stamford on August 10, 1928 to the late Carmelo and Lucia Citarella Roda.
Mary was employed at Cutex for sixteen years, and then went on to work at Clairol as a line worker and supervisor for thirty two years before her retirement. During WW II Mary sold War Bonds and as a member of the Women’s VFW Auxillary, Mary marched in many parades and special events.
She is survived by three sisters, Carmela Vatelle of Newtown, Elizabeth Russo of Southbury, Anna Gallace and her husband Joseph of Fairfield and her brother Sabbo Roda and his wife Carol of Fairfield, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her four sisters, Philomena Musacchio, Edith Sileo, Pauline Lovito and Frances Nigro.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 11:40 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 PM at St. John’s RC Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning, June 18, 2015 prior to Mass from 10:00 AM-11:30 AM.
