Mary Grace Vagnone, 88, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 12, 2018. She was born in Stamford on October 19, 1929 to the late Jerry and Lillian Guilano Franchina.
Mary Grace graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford and from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY. She was a kindergarten teacher at Saint Mary’s Elementary School, and in later years, an educational assistant at both Rogers and Westover Elementary Schools in Stamford. Mary Grace was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Cecilia’s Church in Stamford.
She is survived by her loving children, Michael Vagnone, Jr. of Trumbull, Marianne Oursler and her husband Bob Brakenridge of CO, Barbara Moore and her husband Tim of NC, Dominic Vagnone of Danbury, Gerald Vagnone and his wife Paula of MN, Therese Farfone and her husband Denis, Judy Ostaszewski and her husband Tom and Laura Finn and her husband Tom, all of Stamford, as well as fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Mary Grace was predeceased by her husband Michael Vagnone, Sr. in 2004.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 16, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
