Mary Ann Zoppi, 78, of Norwalk, formally of Stamford, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2013 with her loving family by her side at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT. Mary Ann was born on July 25, 1935 in Stamford to the late Frank and Philomena Tambourino Tamburrino.
Mary Ann was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who gave her heart to all she loved. She worked in Stamford for Ruth and the late Norman Block as their family caretaker. She loved the Atlantic City Boardwalk and beaches and was a volunteer at Lockwood-Matthews Mansion in Norwalk. Mary Ann loved crafts and crocheting almost as much as the warmth and sunshine of Florida.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband Albert Joseph Zoppi, of Stamford, her daughter Alberta Rappoccio and her husband Peter of Ridgefield, her son Philip Zoppi and his wife Eileen of Fairfield, her six grandchildren; Peter Rappoccio, Tim Rappoccio, Carolyn Zoppi, Mary Kate Zoppi, Philip Zoppi Jr. and Patrick Zoppi, her four great-grandchildren; Evelyn Rappoccio, Peter Rappoccio Jr., Logan Rappoccio and Gabriella Rappoccio. Also surviving are her siblings; Frank Tamborino, of Stamford, John Tamborino of North Carolina, Italo “Tom” Tamborino and his wife Lena, of Stamford and Paul Tamborino and his wife Barbara of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary Ann is predeceased by her sisters-in-law; Antoinette “Dolly” Tamborino and Josephine Tamborino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 9, 2013 at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT at 9:30AM. There will be no calling hours and interment will be private. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT is honored to assist the Zoppi family with the arrangements.
