Maurice Gentile
June 16, 1930 — July 25, 2010
Maurice “Git” Gentile, 80 of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on June 16, 1930 in Greenwich, he was the son of the late Felix and Michelina Chieffo Gentile.
Maurice was a carpenter for many years before retiring. He was also in the Army Honor Guard during the Korean War Era. He was a member of the Lega Arena-Dasa.
Maurice is survived by his sons, Maurice Gentile and his wife Katherine of Shelton and Brian Gentile and his wife Barbara of West Virginia; his brothers, Anthony Gentile of New Mexico and Raymond Gentile of Stamford; a sister, Loretta Gentile of Stamford; two grandchildren, Sara and Joseph Gentile; and one great grandchild, Shane Allinger. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Maurice was also predeceased by his wife, Barbara Montagnese Gentile and his brother, Ralph Gentile.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. John’s RC Cemetery at 11:00AM. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Maurice’s name to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.
