Michael Bernardo

Michael A. Bernardo, 84, of Stamford passed away suddenly at home on Friday, February 26, 2016. He was born in Millstone Township, NJ on May 9, 1931 to the late Angelo and Marie Zezima Bernardo.
He moved to Stamford with his family at a young age, attended Stamford Schools and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mike was a licensed barber and proprietor of the Hoyt-Bedford Barber Shop for many years. He later worked in the insurance industry for the John Hancock Insurance Co.
Mike is survived by his brothers, Anthony Bernardo and his wife Lillian of Trumbull, Joseph Bernardo and his wife Lonnie of Stamford and Robert Bernardo and his wife Marybeth of Jacksonville, FL as well as his nieces, nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 AM with a prayer service following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
