MICHAEL CELOTTO, 63, of Stamford died peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
Born in Stamford, July 26, 1957, he was the son of the late Albert “Buck” Celotto and Elsie (Wason) Celotto
He was a lifetime Stamford resident. Mike graduated from Stamford H.S. in 1975 and attended Norwalk Community College. He was a member of St. Mary's RC Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years.
If you were lucky enough to cross paths with him; you know that he made everyone feel special and cared for. He had an infectious smile, great sense of humor, and a ready laugh. He entertained one and all with his jokes, cartwheels, and surprise splits. You couldn’t help but smile around him. However, because of his deep and caring nature, he didn’t just make friends; he made family.
He loved to travel the world but loved going to Maui so much so that his nickname was Maui Mike. The sun and water were some of his favorite things (along with the Yankees). He kept things simple, loved his friends and family, and captured all of it as much as he could on camera. Mike’s annual birthday parties were epic and were attended by hundreds of people.
He also was a very devout Catholic and never missed Mass. Jesus was his guy. He is probably with him now cracking jokes and hugging his mom and dad
He knew the value of life and lived it to the fullest.
Michael is survived by his brothers, Richard Celotto and John “Jack” Celotto of Stamford and Ret. Col. Paul Celotto and his wife Susan; nieces Christine and April Celotto and Katrina “Diane” Adams, wife of Army Major Dominic Adams and their three children Katrina, Elizabeth, and Dominic; and many cousins.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Monday, June 7 at the Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, June 8 at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Masks are required at Church.Interment will be held privately.
