Michael Galella
January 20, 1927 — June 30, 2015
Michael Joseph Galella, 88, of Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Riverside, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 30, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Stamford on January 20, 1927 to the late Vincenzo and Yolanda Cimbalo Galella.
Michael served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps, after which he began working at Pitney Bowes before his retirement in 1985. While in Florida, Michael was a Board Member of the Villa Borghese Italian Club in Delray Beach.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Maria Valente Galella of Delray Beach, FL, his daughter Joy Goldowsky and her husband Joel of Fairfield, CT, his son Michael Galella and his wife Judy of Michigan, his sister Sylvia Arena of Ridgefield, CT, as well as his four grandchildren, Alexander, Daniel and Jonathan Goldowsky and Jake Galella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 11, 2015 at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT at 9:30AM. Interment will be private and there will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist with the arrangements.
