Michael Vartuli

Michael Vartuli, 89, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Michael was born on December 2, 1928 in Arena, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Mary Concetta Inzitari Vartuli.
Michael was an accomplished mason, having owned his own mason and landscaping company, retiring at the age of 59. Michael enjoyed walking at Cove Island Park and gardening. He and his wife Theresa spent the last 27 years wintering in Hollywood, Florida at the Warrenton House Condominiums, where he was a past president of the Condominium Association. Besides playing bocce his greatest enjoyment was surrounding himself with family and food.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Theresa Mary Sorbara Vartuli. Their children, Mary Olsen and her husband Sven of Stamford, and Anthony Vartuli and his wife Denise of Stamford. Grandchildren Dante Vartuli, Kirsten Torraco and her husband Michaelangelo, Michael Vartuli and his wife Daniela, Shawna Olsen and Nicole Vartuli. He is also survived by his great granddaughter Hailee Rabbitt, along with many nieces and nephews in both the United States and Australia.
Besides his parents Michael is predeceased by his brother Domenico Vartuli and his two sisters Mary Schinella and Nancy Giamba.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 5:00PM to 7:30PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 9:30AM and processing to St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM, Internment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT.
