Mikolaj Wajda, 81, passed away on September 14, 2008 at his son’s home in Stratford. Mikolaj was born May 8, 1927 in Poland.

He was a machinist at Pitney Bowes of Stamford, retiring after 23 years of service. Mikolaj was a loving father and a member of the St. Vladamir’s Ukrainian Cathedral in Stamford.

He is survived by three sons, Andrew Wajda and his wife Margaret of Stratford; John Wajda and his wife Nadia of Wilton; and Roman Wajda and his wife Maryann of South Carolina; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and brother, he was predeceased by his wife, Julia Wajda.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, September 17 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a Panakhyda at 7:00 PM with Father Ihor Midzak officiating. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 18 and proceed to St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 24 Wenzel Terrace, Stamford, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Darien.
