Mildred Rumore

Mildred Lyons Rumore, 98, formerly of Stamford passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, the way she lived, quietly and elegantly surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Stamford on February 16, 1918 to the late Bertha Cervenka Lyons and George W. Lyons.
Mildred was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1936, and then went on to study at Merrill Secretarial School and was employed by Yale and Towne before marrying the love of her life, Roy W. Rumore, Sr.
Mildred enjoyed being a housewife and mother and was devoted to her family. She and her husband enjoyed their boat “BobRoy” with family and friends for many years. They retired to Boca Raton, FL and loved their twenty five years spent in FL. After her husband died, Mildred moved back to Stamford, to be closer to her family.
Mildred is survived by her son Roy Rumore, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Norwalk, CT and her daughter Barbara Rumore of Naples, FL, her grandchildren David, Joy, Rory, Ryane, Jill and Roy who loved spending time with their grandmother along with great grandchildren, Luca, Jaxon, Enzo, Paige and Cole. She is also survived by her brother George W. Lyons, Jr. of Newport Richey, FL and her sister Katherine Gill of Stamford as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband Roy W. Rumore, Sr. and her brothers Robert and Walter Lyons and her sister Bertha Corey.
There will be no calling hours however, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mildred’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
