Mitchell James Lemmo
October 13, 1950 — February 7, 2009
Mitchell James Lemmo, 58, a resident of Stamford for 37 years, passed away on Saturday February 7, 2009 at his home. Born in Rutland, Vermont on October 13, 1950, he was the son of the late James Joseph and Angeline Theresa Practico Lemmo.
Mitchell was a graduate of Castelton State University in Castelton, VT receiving a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and received his Masters Degree in Taxation at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. He worked in the Tax Departments for GTE in Stamford as well as, Verizon Communications and Vivendi Universal Music Group in New York City. He was a member and past Chapter President of the Tax Executive Institute- Westchester/Fairfield County Chapter. He served as Chair of many committees including the Federal Committee, IRS Administrative Affairs and Vice Chair of the National IRS Administration Affairs Committee. Mitchell also enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting antiques, restoring English sports cars, gardening and working on his home.
Mitchell is survived by his wife Sheryl Suddeth Lemmo of Stamford; a son, Mitchell James Lemmo II of Stamford; a brother, Rodney and wife Mary Lynn Courcelle Lemmo of Fair Haven, VT and their children, Jeffrey and Stephanie; and a sister, Kim Lemmo Fields and her children Elizabeth and Olivia of Shelburne, VT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes RC Church, 247 Stanwich Road, Greenwich, date and time to be announced. Interment will follow at St. Josephs Mausoleum in St. Marys/Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
