Muriel C. Markus, 85, of Danbury, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Danbury Hospital, after a courageous battle. Born April 26, 1923 in Denmark, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Hammershoy.
Muriel settled in Stamford in the Glenbrook area when her family moved here from Denmark. Her greatest pleasures were spending time with her family and cooking. Muriel was a retired dental assistant for various dental offices.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, marrying September 30, 1967, Andrew Markus formerly of Port Chester, NY; her two little women (daughters), Roberta Comeau of New York; and Jaye C. Anderson of Danbury; and a sister, Joan Ball of New York. Ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two little women (daughters), Mary Jane Chuzas and Elizabeth Shearn; a brother, Jay Hammershoy; and a sister, Shirley Oncea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, on Wednesday, June 4 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. There will be no calling hours.
