Nancy P. Klang of Stamford, Connecticut passed away on July 29, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81. Nancy was born November 19, 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Everett W. and Helen Dunnington Page.
She attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and received her Associate of Arts degree in 1950. Nancy worked for many years in the Stamford Public Schools and for Lapine, Inc. In retirement, she devoted herself to her true passion, as babysitter, storyteller, mentor and friend to scores of area children, all of whom she loved specially. Nancy was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford for 50 years, where she served joyfully as Deacon, Elder, Sunday school teacher and founder of “The Gathering" knitting ministry. She was active in Girl Scouts and volunteered for FISH of Stamford.
Nancy is survived by her son David Klang, daughter-in-law Susan Klang, and grandsons Zachary and Alex Klang of Connecticut; her daughter Carol Klang-Peterson and granddaughter Colleen Peterson of Rhode Island; her daughter Susan Thibaud and son-in-law Todd Thibaud of Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends of all ages.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald E. Klang, her son-in-law Daniel S. Peterson and her sister Barbara Holcomb.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on August 27, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, 1101 Bedford Street, Stamford CT 06905. A reception will follow the service. Arrangements are being handled by the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Nancy’s name to the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford.
