Nancy Ann Sennewald, 53, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at her home in Stamford. Born February 7, 1953 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Barry Clifford and Ann Frances Burke Sennewald.

Nancy was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1971. She graduated from Norwalk Community College in 1973 and received her Bachelors of Science in Education in 1975 from Southern Connecticut State College. Nancy possessed a gift for working with children with special needs, so she went on to receive her Masters Degree in Special Education from Fairfield University in 1994. Nancy taught at Rogers Elementary School from 1994-1997 and then was a substitute teacher at South and West School in New Canaan from 1997-2006. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s RC Church and their Rosary Society. She also donated her time with the Silent Auction at St. Mary’s RC Church Annual Feast, and as a teenager, received her 100 hour pin as a candy striper at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford. Nancy was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening and bird watching.

She is survived by her two sisters, Cynthia A. Sennewald and her partner, Pamela Bell, of Stamford; and Lori A. Sennewald and her partner, Kimberly Robbins, of South Portland, ME; a niece, AnnaLeigh V. Robbins-Sennewald; a nephew, Clifford J. Robbins-Sennewald both also of South Portland, ME; an aunt, Marie Burke of Norwalk; and an uncle, Edward Sennewald of Florida. She is also survived by many beloved cousins.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Monday, February 26, 2007 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 9:40 AM and proceed to St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.

Due to Nancy’s love of St. Mary’s RC Church, her wish was that memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT 06902. www.cognetta.com
