Nicholaos P. Tournas, 76, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, February 26, 2012 at the Stamford, Hospital. Born on December 1, 1936 in Greece. He came to the United States 1957, he was the son of Irene and Panagiotis. He is survived by his brothers Efstathios, George Tournas, and sister Maria Tournas. His loving wife Efi, their son Peter and his wife Terri Tournas, daughter Sophie, and her husband Thanasi Tournas, daughter Irene and her husband Paul Diamantis. Along with seven grandchildren Angela, Christina, Effie, Johnny, Niko, Alexandra and John. Nicholaos is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Former owner of Dunkin Donuts Prospect & Main Locations, Zaharis Lunchette & Catering. He was an active member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where he served many years on the parish council. He was loved by everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Friends and family may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902, on Thursday, February 28th, 2013 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM a Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 PM with Father Evans. A service will be held the following day March 1st, 2013 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT 06905 and then process for interment at the Woodland Cemetery, Stamford.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks for all donations to be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Nicholaos P. Tournas Name.
