Nicholas Cartsounis, 84, of Stamford, CT, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Born on May 31, 1928 in Ossining, NY, he was the son of the late John and Ethel (Pappas) Cartsounis
He was a lifelong Stamford resident and graduated from the University of New Haven, CT. He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Air Force and served from 1946-1949.
Nick worked for the City of Stamford in the Planning and Zoning Department for 33 years. He enjoyed fine arts, nature, and NYC. He was also a talented artist.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother James Cartis. He is survived by his brothers George Cartsounis of Stamford, Harry Cartsounis of Suffield, CT, as well as two nephews, and five nieces. Also surviving him is his loving friend and devoted caregiver Joanne Rodrigues of Stamford, CT.
Family and friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM with a prayer service in the funeral home at NOON. A procession will then proceed for entombment at the Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford.
