Nicholas Robert Loglisci, Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Nick was born on November 27, 1931, son of the late Joseph and Mary Condito Loglisci.
Nick served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. In 1959, he married the love of his life Helen Lapinsky and they went on to have four sons. His philosophy was a simple one- “Life is short, so enjoy it and always put your family first.” Nick began his career as a private contractor and later served as the City of Stamford’s Commissioner of Public Works and then as the City’s Operations Officer. Real estate investing was a lifelong endeavor and throughout his career, he mastered the art of the “flip.” While Nick worked hard, his true passion was his family. Not many weekends went by without Nick and Helen attending their sons sporting events. He was a well-known figure at the area baseball and football fields and well known for his signature cigar chomping and pacing. His occasional outbursts were widely recognized and included such favorites as “Put your head down and run over him” or “Eye on the ball -- Eye on the ball!” In his later years, Nick stopped talking about his children and transitioned (rather quickly) to talking incessantly about his three grandchildren Luke, Lyric and Piper that he adored so much.
Nick is survived by his wife Helen Lapinsky Loglisci of Stamford, their four sons Nicholas Jr., and his wife Lisa of Stamford, Anthony and his wife Susan of Stamford, Steven of Los Angeles, CA and David of Rowayton, as well as his brother Patsy Loglisci and sister Lucille Tomczyk, both of Stamford. Nick is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Luke, Lyric, and Piper.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his brother Joseph Loglisci Jr., and his sister Marie Interlandi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Rd., Stamford, CT on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at the Queen of Peace R.C. Cemetery, Rockrimmon Rd., Stamford.
