Nicholas Charles Psiharis, 67, of Norwalk passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness. Nick was born in Stamford on December 30, 1948 to the late Gus and Bert Sakellaris Psiharis.
He lived in Stamford for 33 years before moving to Norwalk. He was a graduate of Rippowam High School, Class of 1966 and a graduate from UCONN at Storrs, CT in 1971. He was employed at Norden Systems-Northrup Grumman for over 42 years and had many friends there. Nick also was a proud member of the J-Star Missile Guidance System used by our armed forces. He was a kind man and had a dry wit. He was a longtime avid Yankee fan and enjoyed the humor of Woody Allen and the music of Frank Sinatra.
Nick is survived by his loving sister, Annette P. Chagares and her husband Arthur of Wyckoff, NJ, as well as his nephews and niece, The Honorable Michael Chagares and family of Wyckoff, NJ, Stephen A. Chagares, M.D. and family of Shrewsbury, NJ, and Christine C. Tsairis and family of Wyckoff, NJ. He also leaves behind cousins in Los Angeles, CA. He will be truly missed by all.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:30 AM for a Funeral Service to be celebrated at 12:00 PM at the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery,230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday morning, June 4, 2016 from 10:00-11:30 AM.
