Nicholas P. Sollitto, Sr., 80, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at his home in Stamford. Born on September 20, 1926 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Frank and Angelina Ginolfi Sollitto.
Mr. Sollitto was a Machine Shop Foreman for Pitney Bowes, having retired after fifty-years of employment. He was a member of St. Marys RC Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Augustine Council #41 4th degree. Nicholas was also a Veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII and a member of the VFW. He served on the Board of the Pitney Bowes Credit Union and was a member of the Pitney Bowes Oval Club and Golden Oldies.
He is survived by three sons, Nicholas P. Sollitto, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Stamford; Robert Sollitto and his wife Laurie of Trumbull; and Thomas A. Sollitto and his wife Ellen also of Trumbull; two sisters, Geraldine Sollitto; and Antoinette Tamburino and her husband Frank, all of Stamford; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Clotilda Fratturo Sollitto; two brothers, Tony and Jerry Sollitto; and a sister, Jennie Conte.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 9:15 AM on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 and proceed to St. Marys RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Johns Mausoleum in Darien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 PM.
