Nicholas C. Pagliaro, Sr., 88, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Stamford Hospital. He was born on September 14, 1929 in Stamford to the late Dominick and Madeline Mancini Pagliaro.
Nicholas was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Pagliaro Masonry of Stamford with his father and brother. His beautiful stone work and brick work can be found all over Stamford. After his retirement in 2000, he became a Crossing Guard at the corner of Vine Road and Barmore Drive, until 2012. Nick received many notes, gifts and many accolades from the parents of the children under his care. His passions included cooking and dancing, walking the beach and watching and following the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed spending time with his two favorite four legged friends Hercules and Lili.
Nicholas is survived by his daughter Lori Butler and her husband Edward of Old Greenwich, a son Philip Pagliaro of Arizona, three grandsons Christopher, Ryan and Connor, two sisters Nancy Kabasakalian and her husband Harry of Ridgefield, CT, Anna Schmid and her husband Rudy of Stamford, survivors also include a lifelong family friend Jackie Gerardi of Stamford and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ann Kirkpatrick Pagliaro, son Nicholas C. Pagliaro, Jr. his sister Mary Pagliaro, a brother Philip Pagliaro and his wife Marie Franchina Pagliaro, and his longtime companion Louise Gabrielly.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 8:30- 10:15 AM then proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow with Military Honors at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
