Nikolla Vlash, 86, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Monday January 18, 2106. Nikolla was born in Albania on February 15, 1929.
Nikolla was a freedom fighter in Albania fighting against the Communist Regime. He immigrated to the United States, with his wife Terezina, in the mid 1950’s and began his career as a machinist at Conde Nast through the 1960’s.
Nikolla is survived by his daughters, Irene Ropicki and her husband John, of Stamford and Lisa Vlash of Wilton, his daughter-in-law Leidi Vlash of Bethel and his grandchildren, Jeffery Vlash, Brian Ropicki, Vanessa Ropicki, Steven Vlash, Theresa Vlash and Michael Vlash.
Nikolla was predeceased by his loving wife Terezina Vlash, and his sons Zef Vlash and Mark Vlash.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday January 22, 2016 at 9:20AM and proceed to St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00AM. Interment will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday January 21, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
