Nunzie E. Pagliaro, 89, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 1, 2015. He was born in Stamford on October 27, 1925 to the late Dominick and Madeline Vigliotti Pagliaro.
Nunzie was employed as a custodian with the Town of Greenwich for twenty five years before his retirement. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Army as a heavy machine gunner in Rhineland and Central Europe and received a Purple Heart for injuries received in action.
He is survived by Jerri I. Lavoie and her husband Don of Stamford, whom he resided with for twenty years, Tina Pajeski and her husband Bill of East Haven, CT, Donald Lavoie III and his wife Carla of Norwalk and their children Krislynn, Marissa, William, Autumn and Kai, his sisters Mary Hull of Stamford, Catherine Tarvares of SC, his brothers Billy Pagliaro of Naugatuck, CT and Michael Pagliaro of OK, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Nunzie was predeceased by his wife Cathleen Santasiero Pagliaro, his brothers Frank and Clyde Pagliaro and his sisters Cecilia DiMartino and Josephine Musarella.
A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 12 noon at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road Cemetery, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
