Pasquale Castelli
November 25, 1924 — June 3, 2017
Pasquale Castelli, 92, a longtime resident of Stamford (Springdale) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
Pasquale was born in Ausonia, Italy on November 25, 1924 son of the late Raffaele and Giuditta Mallozzi Castelli.
Pasquale, his wife and two oldest children came to the United States and settled in Springdale in 1956. It wasn't long before his family grew to include two more daughters. He had a passion for life, his family and his garden and for growing his heirloom plants from seed, especially his tomatoes, broccoli rabe, peppers, fig trees any many other vegetable and fruit trees too numerous list here.
Pasquale is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Elena Cupo Castelli of Stamford, their three daughters Antonietta Cappelli of Newtown, Giovanna Zallo and her husband Antonio of Wilton, and Maryann Catino and her husband Teodoro of Stamford, and his son Ralph Castelli and his wife Elisa of Wilton. Also surviving are his 9 cherished grandchildren Philip, Elena, John, Teresa, Rosie, Angelo Jr., Erme, Pasquale and Daniella along with 15 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive, both here and in Italy.
Besides his parents, Pasquale is predeceased by his older brother Anthony Castelli, who died during World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He is also predeceased by a son-in-law Angelo Cappelli.
Friends and family may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 at 9;30AM and proceeding to St. Cecilia’s RC Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Following mass a Committal Service will be held at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
