Pasquale Russo
March 26, 1929 — April 2, 2016
Pasquale “Pat” Russo, 87, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
Pat was born in NYC in 1929 to the late Angelo and Louise (Rossi) Russo. He was a veteran of the Korean War in 1951, serving in the 430th engineer construction battalion, company A, paving the way for the first Marine Division. He then began his 40-year career in the construction industry, and became a founding partner of Fairfield Insulation.
He is survived by his son John Russo and his wife Robin of Stamford, his son Joseph Russo of North Carolina, his granddaughters Emily and Sara Russo of Stamford, his sisters, Angelina Zambetti, Josephine Reicher, Anna Martin, and Rosalind Sullivan, all of Rockland County, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Matilda Lee “Chippie” Russo, his brothers Frank and Rudy Russo, and his sister Sylvia Russo.
Pat was an active member in the local community, and was a founding member of the Umbrella Club of Stamford. He served on the board of the Italian Center Men’s Club and was a member of the Exchange Club of Stamford.
In addition to being an extraordinary Father, Grandfather, and Husband, everyone who knew Pat understood his dedication, generosity, lifelong loyalty, and fighting spirit, which defined his life’s legacy.

A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 pm.
