Pasqualina "Pat" Palazzo, 91 of Stamford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Mount Vernon, New York on June 21, 1922 to the late Pasquale and Marianna DiMatteo Volpe.
She is survived by her loving children, Tina Spalin and her husband Rod, Nicholas Palazzo and his wife Michelle all of Stamford, four grandchildren Dayna Macari, Michael and Richard Spalin, Suzanne Ponticello, and two great grandchildren, Michael Macari and Hayden Spalin, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Pat was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Michael J. Palazzo, two sisters Mary DeNicola, Carmella Antonini, and a brother Amadeo Volpe.
After moving to Connecticut in 1958, Pat resided in Stamford, where she had a 20 year career at GE Credit Corporation. She retired in 1984 and then became an active volunteer at St. Leo's Parish, which consisted of roles as the past president and a current member of the church's Senior group. Her faith and family were the foundation of her life, as were her love for opera, Sinatra, and the NY Yankees. She had an appetite for all things Italian, especially when it came to cooking for her family.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Leo Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's RC Cemetery, Darien. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
