Patsy “Skippy” De Nicola passed away peacefully on Christmas Day surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Stamford on December 29, 1929 to the late Dominick and Angelina Loglisci DeNicola.
He was a lifetime resident of Stamford, CT who owned several businesses throughout the years in the food industry and is especially well known for running the Continental Manor Catering Hall in Norwalk, CT. where he received several recognition awards for his community service. He was well loved by people throughout the community and was recently honored by the Gravinese Mutual Aid Society for his leadership when he served as interim president. He was an active member of the community who volunteered for many years with Toys for Tots, The American Legion, and the Veterans Administration. His passion for music led him to become a musician who played the bass fiddle in several special occasion bands. Patsy also served honorably in the US Marines during the 1950’s.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marion Yorfino DeNicola, his sons Dominick DeNicola and his wife Clara, Frank DeNicola and his wife Lisa, his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Patrick and his wife Annie, Bernadette and her fiancé Daniel Tarantino, Dominick, Eve, Travis and his wife Lindsay, Tyler and Camryn, son-in-law James Verrastro and a sister-in-law Lorraine DeNicola. Also surviving is his sister, Marie Parente and her husband Henry, a brother Joseph DeNicola and his wife Marge and a sister Linda Vozzella, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Patsy was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Angela DeNicola Verrastro, who passed away on December 24, 1994, his sister Carmella Colandro and her husband John, his brothers Frank and Vincent DeNicola, as well as a brother-in-law Anthony ”Babe” Vozzella.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 9:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Leo’s Parish, Roxbury Road, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
