Paul Joseph Dziezyc, 85, died Ash Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. He was born January 1, 1922 in Stamford, CT to the late Adolph and Gladys Ornowska Dziezyc.
He was a graduate of Stamford High School, J.M. Wright Technical School and the Radio Institute of America. He was in the Naval Submarine Service during World War II and for 35 years worked as a Production Engineer for Perkin-Elmer Corp. in Norwalk, CT retiring in 1984, with his wife, to Salisbury, NC.
In Stamford he was a parishioner of Holy Name Church, later of St. Cecilia Church and Sacred Heart Church in Salisbury and was a daily communicant for 41 years. He was a 57 year member of the Third Order of St. Francis, a 55 year 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 41, and a 34 year member of the National Right to Life Committee.
He was elected to the Board of Representatives in Stamford from the 16th district, and he was also a past Chairman of the Stamford Zoning Board and served as a Precinct Chairman there and in Salisbury for the Republican Party.
In North Carolina he participated in the National Senior Games winning medals in the Sprint Races and in the Senior Bowling League and was a member of the Ham Radio Club.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Katherine Durso Dziezyc; two daughters, Dr. Joan Dziezyc Millichamp of College Station, TX; and Barbara Dziezyc Morris of Concord, NC; and five grandchildren, Chris, Eric, and Scott Morris, and Rebecca and Kate Millichamp. A brother, Joseph Dziezyc of Florida; and two sisters, Frances Rowe and Louise Ryhal of California also survive.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Paul Dziezyc.
A burial service was conducted by Msgr. Edward Surwilo, assisted by Fr. David Riley at St. Johns Cemetery in Darien, CT on February 26, 2007.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. John Putnam at Sacred Heart Church in Salisbury on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, 128 N. Fulton Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
