Paul F. Norton, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 27, 2006 at Stamford Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. �"Poppie was endearingly loved by his five grandchildren.
Paul was born in Port Chester, New York in 1925, the son of a carpenter and homemaker. Paul and Barbara, his wife of 49 years, have lived in Stamford since 1962. Paul served in the United States Navy, Seaman First Class, in World War II. Paul was a Fuller Brush door-to-door salesman for almost 35 years. Paul chose not to retire and worked as a custodian at the Smith House, a nursing home in Stamford, right up until the onset of his illness.
Paul loved to read science fiction and mystery novels, and enjoyed spending his weekends going to tag sales and tinkering in his garage.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his son, Stephen and wife Lisa and their two sons Evan and Anthony; his son, William; his daughter, Janice and husband Martin Stauffer and their three daughters Katherine, Alison and Laura.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday September 1, 2006 at 10:20 AM and proceed to St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday August 31, 2006 from 4:00 7:00 PM.
