Paul Verses

Paul A. Verses, 76 of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at home with his family by his side. Born on July 27, 1933 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Michael and Virginia Triacopoulous Verses. He was the co-owner Verses Bros. Plumbing. He was a member of the Stamford Yacht club where he enjoyed being on the Paddle Tennis and Tennis teams. Paul was a well known and popular “character” of Shippan Point and was adored by all that knew him, often known as -- the “Mayor of Shippan”.
Paul is survived by his wife, Bonnie P. Verses of Stamford; his children, daughter Michelle Verses, son Stephen Verses and his wife Jamie, son Gregg Verses and his wife Olga, and daughter Barbara Verses; his stepchildren, Hugh G. Seaton and Dana P. Schmitt and her husband Mike; his sister Sophia Copley and her husband Charles; his brother Arthur Verses and wife Joanne; his brothers-in-law, Dr. John L. Penny and his wife Janet, Ralph E. Penny and his wife Ann and William E. Penny; and his grandchildren, Stephen, Alexandria, Dakota, Jeremy and Nikko Verses.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 2:00PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bedford Street, Stamford. A private interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 3:00-8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made in Paul’s name to the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center, 34 Shelburne Road, Stamford, CT 06904.
