Pauline Anna Valenti, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016 in the Indiana home of her oldest son Joseph.

Born November 2, 1932 in Norwalk, Pauline was the daughter of the late Ejnar and Anna Andersson.

Pauline graduated from Norwalk High School in 1950 and attended the Teacher’s College of Connecticut in New Britain earning a B.A. in Elementary Education in 1954. Shortly thereafter she began working for the Darien public school system and in April 1955 she received a Teacher’s Appointment by the Office of Board of Education, Darien, Connecticut. Later on, she earned a Master’s degree in education.

Pauline was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph Anthony Valenti, Jr. who died in June 2014. She is survived by her brother Nels Andersson and his wife Roberta Richtman Andersson of Fairfield, sons Joseph Anthony Valenti, III, and wife Deborah Ann Valenti of Zulu, Indiana, Michael Albert Valenti and wife Amy Hayes Valenti of Dover, Delaware, and Steven Andrew Valenti and wife Brooke Benedict Valenti of Weston, Connecticut. She is also survived by nine cherished grandsons, Ronny, Tony, Justin, Danny, Nathan, James, Spencer, Christopher, and Thomas Valenti along with eight great grandchildren, Katie, Kari, Emily, Wesley, Victoria, Dominic, Halleigh, and Giovanni, and one great-great grandson, Owen.

Pauline and her younger brother Nels were raised in Norwalk, Connecticut, in a house built by their master carpenter father Ejnar. Pauline met her future husband, Joseph Valenti, at a dance at the Hay Barn in Darien, Connecticut. After their marriage in June 1956 they became residents of Stamford and lived in the neighborhood of Springdale for 52 years. There they raised three energetic boys who were very active in Boy Scouts, youth and high school sports teams, and local outdoor activities many of which revolved around the neighboring black swamp. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stamford for most of her adult life and became involved with many church activities including teaching nursery school and serving on numerous committees. She continued working for the Darien public school system as a substitute teacher when her boys were young and eventually returned full time as a teacher’s aide in 1981. From 1986 to 1999 she served in that capacity for the 5th grade at Hindley Elementary School. There she was a friendly and well-respected coworker of many of the faculty and staff members. Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many in the community.
