Peter Maragos
August 15, 1930 — June 2, 2010
Peter E. Maragos, 79, passed away peacefully at St. Camillus Health Care Center, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. Born August 15, 1930, in Logastra, Sparta, Greece, he was the son of the late Evangelos and Anna Nikolaros Maragos.
Peter worked for A. Antonelli & Son Roofing for over 20 years. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and served on the Parish Council for many years. He was devoted to his church and family.
Peter is survived by his wife, Panagiota Kerhoulas Maragos; a son Angelo Maragos and his wife Sophia, and their children Patricia and Jonathon of Westport; a daughter, Anna Durkovic and her husband Damir, and their children Danielle and Peter of Darien. Also surviving is a brother, Constantine Maragos of Logastra, Sparta, Greece; a sister in law Maria Maragos of Stamford; and four sisters, Helen Vasilakos and Despina Angelopoulos, both of New York, Olga Benekos of Stamford, and Georgia Asimakopoulos of Logastra, Sparta, Greece. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother George E. Maragos.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, with a Trisagian Service being held at 6:00 PM with Rev. Fr. Constantine Mathews officiating. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:00 AM, Monday June 7, 2010 and proceed to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
