Ralph Bocchetta
April 27, 1927 — April 28, 2017
Ralph M. Bocchetta, 90, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 28, 2017. A lifelong native of Stamford, Ralph was born on April 27, 1927 to the late Vincent Bocchetta and Mary Chianelli.
Ralph gave back to the community often and in many ways. He valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II; he volunteered for Meals on Wheels; he dressed up as Santa and brought joy to countless children around Christmas time; and he gave of his time reading for seniors and children. He was a member of AARP, the Senior Center of the City of Stamford, and active member of St. Bridget of Ireland. He was also impressionist painter. He worked at Machlett Labs as a mechanical engineer for 20 years.
Ralph is survived by his adoring wife of 68 years, Antoinette Biase Bocchetta; daughters Janice Matthews of Stamford, Diane and John Apicelli of Norwalk, and Tina and Ken Riordan of Norwalk; sons Robert and Karen Bocchetta of Florida, David and Sally Bocchetta of Norwalk, and Steven Bocchetta and Coral of Norwalk; his adopted daughter Jane Holt of Stamford; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by one brother, Anthony Bocchetta.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 9:30AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
