Ralph Joseph Chamberlain died Monday, October 30, 2006 at Stamford Hospital. Born August 18, 1925 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Bertha and Ralph Edson Chamberlain.

He graduated from Stamford High School, Trinity College and the Merchant Marine Academy. Ralph was a life-long employee of American Cyanamid where he worked as a research chemist and holds several patents. He was president of Cyco and a member of their rifle team. He was a fireworks enthusiast and a member of the Connecticut Pyrotechnic Association, and gave many slide shows in the area. As a volunteer, he drove for the Red Cross and FISH and volunteered at the North Stamford police substation. He was a long-time blood donor. Ralph was a member of the Stamford Mens Association and the Civil War Round Table. He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II in the Pacific.

He is survived by his wife, Isebell Swenson Chamberlain; and children, Scott Chamberlain of New Milford; Sally Chamberlain of Stamford; and Robert Chamberlain of Brewster, NY. He also leaves six grandchildren, Justin Chamberlain of Louisiana serving with the Navy in Iraq; Jessica Chamberlain of Louisiana; Greg Chamberlain of Brewster, NY; Jill Maggio of Danbury; Christopher Chamberlain of Brewster, NY; and Lucas Chamberlain of Brewster, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Dashon Peterson and Coby Chamberlain of Bethel.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. A reception will follow the interment at Long Ridge Firehouse for all friends and family to attend. Arrangements are being handled by the Nicholas F.
