Ralph “BaBa” Tartaglia, 84, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 16, 2013 at the Smith House Health Care Center with his loving family by his side. Ralph was born in Stamford on September 3, 1928 to the late Samuel and Maria Elizabeth Turcio Tartaglia.
Ralph was a Master Mason for over 50 years, before retiring in 1991 and was a delegate for the Bricklayer’s Union Local #8 in the 1970’s. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was also an avid ballroom dancer. Ralph was a devoted father and grandfather always putting his family first.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife Sally Kaminski Tartaglia of Stamford, a daughter Sallie Craig and her husband Tim of Stamford, a son Michael Tartaglia and his wife Rhonda of Greenwich, four grandchildren; Christopher Rosi, Katelyn Rosi, Michael Tartaglia and Kimberley Tartaglia. Also surviving is his sister Cecilia Ottaviano and her husband Ted of Stamford, his brother Dave Tartaglia and his wife Carol and his sister-in-law Maryanne Tartaglia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his step-mother Mary Lupinacci Tartaglia, his brother Sam Tartaglia and his sister Camille Tartaglia.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue Stamford, CT on Friday April 19, 2013 at 9:45AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue Stamford, CT at 10:30AM. Interment will be held privately at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place Stamford, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday April 18, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00PM.
